2026 Amphibian Week
The winter has slipped away with too much snow in the east and hardly any at all in the west! We wonder if the amphibians are noticing? They might be when there are fewer puddles out west for them to lay eggs in the spring! But Amphibian Week is in the works – a worldwide celebration of our amphibian pals. Amphibian Week also aims to educate and help us all understand why amphibians are declining and how we can help. At the USGS Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative we work on science designed to answer questions about amphibian populations, disease, and habitat. Our science is aimed at helping managers make informed decisions about efforts to support amphibians.
